FY2027 Division Priorities

As we begin FY2027, Environmental Health and Public Safety is focusing on four division-wide priorities that will guide our work and help us strengthen the services we provide to the NC State community.

These priorities do not encompass every goal, project or responsibility across the division. Individual departments will pursue initiatives specific to their missions and operational needs. Together, these four areas provide a shared framework for where we want to make progress during the year.

Organizational Development

We will strengthen our organization by investing in our people, processes and workplace. Priorities include employee engagement, recognition and professional development, along with organizational enhancement efforts such as reviewing and improving standard operating procedures.

Resource Optimization

We will strengthen how we allocate and manage resources to support the core services our departments provide to the university community. Work in this area will include refining our core services, conducting zero-based budgeting exercises within departments, developing and tracking meaningful measures of success, and reviewing staffing resources in relation to service expectations.

Communications and Outreach

We will continue improving how we communicate within our division and with the broader university community. Priorities include updating remaining legacy websites, reviewing and refining social media strategies, and strengthening internal communications across departments and teams.

Exceptional Enterprise-Level Service

Providing excellent service to the NC State community remains central to our work. Departments will work to further define core services and identify and implement strategies that strengthen service delivery, responsiveness and the experience of those who rely on our teams.

Putting Our Priorities Into Practice

These priorities provide direction, but their implementation will look different across the division. EHPS leadership will work with supervisors and teams throughout FY2027 to identify specific initiatives, measures and opportunities for progress within each area.

Together, this work will help us strengthen our organization and continue providing the services that support a safe, secure and successful NC State community.
